PHOTOS: First, send me a photo.
I work entirely from photos, so first I will need your favorite picture that you’d like turned into a portrait. I will use the file digitally, so you can either email it or snail mail it to me and I will scan it and return the photo when I ship your final artwork. Please feel free to send me other photos as well; the more I have for reference, the better. HIgh resolution photos with natural lighting work best. (You must either own the rights to your photo or have written permission from the photographer). While I can work from a low resolution photo please remember that the better your photo, the better your artwork. The more detail I am able to see in the photo the more detailed your portrait will be.
If you are located within 30 miles of the Virginia Beach area, I will happily come to you and do a mini photoshoot to get some shots of your pet...contact me for pricing.
SIZE: Decide what size portrait you want.
The price page lists sample canvas sizes for reference, but since each piece is custom made, you can choose any size you’d like. Get creative! Square, panoramic, large to cover a big wall, or 3 small portraits of different poses to line up next to each other. The choice is entirely up to you. Just give me specific dimensions and I will get back to you right away with a quote. You can choose to have your artwork printed on either canvas or on glossy paper suitable for framing. The size is completely up to you and will be determined before I begin. Prices vary by size and medium.
BACKGROUND: Choose a background style.
Some people love the modern look of a patterned background, others are drawn to something a little more simple. Let me know which style you prefer. If you have a specific color pattern in mind, or know the color scheme of the room you plan to hang your art, let me know that, too.
FINAL STEPS
Once we’ve determined size and the photo I’ll be using, I will send you my art commission contract and I will require a 50% deposit to place you on the waiting list. Once I finish your portrait, you will receive a low resolution digital proof to approve. Do not be afraid to ask for changes, in both the background design and the actual portrait of your pet. Your input is welcome and expected. I rely on the photos as well as your comments to get your pet right.
PLEASE NOTE: As not all computer monitors are the same, colors or contrast might vary slightly from actual artwork.
After any revisions, I will send you another proof to get your final approval. Up to 3 rounds of revisions are included in your price. Addition revisions require an additional fee. When I have the completed portrait, the remaining balance is required before shipment.
The turnaround time depends on how many portraits I am currently working on.
All portraits are done in the order I receive them. I will let you know the approximate
wait at the time of your order. Please contact me for expedite pricing if you need it
by a specific date as I will do my best to accommodate your needs.
